Good morning dreamers! Half way through the week–happy hump day! All down hill from here…am I right? Where to #Wednesday…where in the world do I want to go? Well everywhere, duh, but today I’m going to focus on somewhere in particular that many people don’t know about. Caye Caulker. Located in #Belize, this #island is not highly widespread to #travelers, but doing a little research, this place is a local gem! I’m talking beautiful #beaches, colorful #culture, and nothing but crystal clear #waters.
So step one…getting there. Once in Belize, you can either take a 30 minute water taxi from San Pedro (roughly $25) or a 15 minute flight. In my opinion, the water taxi is the way to go because who doesn’t love looking down the sparkling ocean and enjoying the breeze? Side note, Caye Caulker is located only 1 mile from the Belize barrier #reef–major plus for you #divers and #snorkelers out there!
Where to stay? My vote is the Iguana Reef Inn. Not only is it a great location, but it’s extremely well kept. Located right on the water’s edge, the# resort offers an old style #Caribbean feel with some cultural #charm. There is free breakfast every morning (who doesn’t love that?), a private #beach, tons of# hammocks and a salt-water #pool. Total winner in my book.
This island is full of #nightlife, dining experiences and #activities that are #perfect if you’re looking for your next adventure. Not only can you totally relax here (hello spa day), but you can have the best of both worlds and dive into your #explorer side. The hotel offers tons of packages including scuba diving, snorkeling, #fishing, #sailing, as well as excursions a little inland in Belize that offer some insight into the #history of this magical place. I don’t know about you, but a vacation that offers relaxation and adventure is pretty much my dream!
What do you think? Have you been here? I want to know!
